How to Write a SaaS Listing That Sells Faster

Most SaaS listings on acquisition marketplaces sit for months. The ones that sell in weeks have one thing in common: they remove buyer uncertainty fast.

A SaaS listing is a sales document. Most founders write it like a product description. The ones that close deals quickly are written from the buyer's perspective — what do I need to know to feel confident making an offer?

Lead with the metrics that matter most

ARR, monthly churn rate, growth rate, and customer count should be in the first paragraph. Do not bury the numbers. Buyers scan listings looking for these figures — if they have to search for them, they will move to the next listing.

Explain why you are selling honestly

Buyers are skeptical of sellers for good reason. An honest, specific explanation for why you are selling ("I want to build something new in a different space") is more persuasive than a vague answer. Evasiveness is a red flag that sophisticated buyers are trained to detect.

Document the acquisition channels

Which channels bring customers, and how much of that is founder-dependent? This is one of the biggest concerns for any buyer. If all your growth comes from your personal Twitter following, be honest — and show what you have done to build systems that are not person-dependent.

Include verified financials

Listings with verified metrics — revenue connected directly to a payment processor — close significantly faster than those with screenshots or spreadsheets. It is not about the absolute numbers; it is about removing the friction of having to verify what you have claimed.
