Post-Launch Checklist: What to Do in the 48 Hours After Launch

Most founders exhaust everything on launch day and go quiet after. The 48 hours after a launch are often more valuable than the launch itself.

Launch day gets all the attention. But the 48 hours after a launch — when you have real users signing up, giving feedback, and making purchasing decisions — are often where the real leverage is. Here is a checklist for making the most of the post-launch window.

In the first 12 hours

  • Respond to every comment on Product Hunt, Hacker News, and Reddit within 2 hours of posting
  • Email everyone who signed up with a personal note — even a one-line message from the founder converts significantly better than an automated welcome
  • Monitor your error logs and fix critical bugs immediately
  • Update your metrics dashboard — you will want a clean record of launch day numbers

In hours 12–48

  • Do user interviews with anyone who signed up and will take a call — launch-day users are your most motivated early adopters
  • Write a launch retrospective for Indie Hackers or your blog while the experience is fresh
  • Send a follow-up email to your waitlist with the launch results — social proof from a successful launch converts fence-sitters
  • Start a list of every question or objection you heard — this is your next month of content

The thing most founders miss

The users who signed up on launch day and did not activate are more valuable than the ones who converted immediately. They showed enough interest to sign up — understanding why they did not continue tells you exactly what your onboarding is missing.
