Why Your SaaS Landing Page Is Not Ranking and How to Fix It

Most SaaS landing pages are designed to convert, not to rank. These are the most common reasons your page is invisible in search — and how to fix them.

A landing page designed purely for conversion often fails at SEO. The two goals are not contradictory, but most designers optimize only for one. Here are the most common SEO failures on SaaS landing pages and how to fix each one.

No clear primary keyword

Your page needs to be explicitly about one thing. If your homepage targets "project management software for freelancers," every element — title tag, H1, first paragraph, image alt text — should reinforce that keyword. Pages that try to target five keywords at once rarely rank for any of them.

Thin content

Google's ranking systems favor pages with depth. A landing page with 200 words of copy is almost always outranked by a competitor with 600–800 words that addresses the same topic more comprehensively. You do not need to turn your landing page into a blog post — but you need more than a tagline and three bullet points.

Missing metadata

Title tags and meta descriptions that are not set, or are set to generic defaults, are the most common missed opportunity on SaaS landing pages. Your title tag is the single most important on-page SEO element. Invest 20 minutes in writing one that includes your keyword and earns a click.

No backlinks pointing to the page

A landing page with no external links pointing to it will not rank for competitive keywords regardless of how well-written it is. Get listed on directories and mention the page specifically in any guest posts or press coverage you generate.
